Shop For a New Bracelet in Warm Rich Autumn Colors!
Spirit of Change 3-strand gemstone, sterling silver and lampwork bracelet
$95.00
My latest is just packed full of unique and interesting gemstones!
Lovely shades of juicy orange Carnelian, Apple green Afghani Jade rondelles, crisp primo faceted Peridot, sterling silver feathers, warn brown Blonde Onyx (also from Afghanistan), interspersed with metallic copper colored glass, with a swirly encased moss green lampwork focal provide you a cornucopia of interesting shapes and colors to wear on your wrist.
With the crisp transition from Fall to Winter on a global and spititual level many things are percolating in preparation for the New Year; a time for storing up energy, organizing ideas, and laying groundwork for the road ahead, for new and exciting ventures.

This is the inner work we do to prepare for the outer work; every bit as important. Even animals do this. Bears hibernate, squirrels gather nuts and store them away for leaner times when food is scarce, and trees slough off old leaves preparing for the new growth which is to come.

This bracelet is very centering to the spirit and prepares you for the next chapter in your life; both exciting and rich.

It measures 8 1/2" and has a sterling silver lobster claw clasp.

It is topped off with a nice little cluster of charms on the ring the clasp goes into; a carved Carnelian feather, two sterling feathers, and green and white freshwater pearls (the green pearls includes some matching Afgani Jade and faceted Peridot).
Shipping to US destinations will include insurance and ship Priority Mail through December 25th.
If this is to be a Christmas present please order by December 17th just to be on the safe side. I am willing to giftwrap anything I offer in my shop through the holidays at no extra charge. Just ask in the buying message (or in a convo beforehand).

As you do your holiday shopping keep an eye on my shop, as I will be adding even more unique jewelry in the weeks leading up to the holidays, and remember; the best form of flattery to an artist is a purchase (especially repeat purchases), so if you like it follow up those hearts and go ahead and treat yourself or someone you care about to the finer things in life always crafted with high quality materials, and the experience, and skill of nearly 27 years.

Eye Candy Interlude-Sneak Preview of New Gemstone Beads!
6mm Faceted African Sodalite Beads - $18.00
7 inch strand
I've never been a big fan of Sodalite but these African Sodalite beads are not like any Sodalite I've ever seen before! These are beautifully faceted and have peach or salmon here and there, and some of these beads are semi-translucent. This gives the strand a warmer look and also makes the beads easier to combine with earthtones. This strand goes great with jeans and it really sparkles!
10 X 18mm Apple Jasper Ovals - $24.00
16" strand
What a wonderful stone for the holiday season; these Apple Jasper ovals are the color of chocolate mixed with cherries! I had originally ordered some rondelles to go with these but Apple Jasper was flying off the shelf and my supplier couldn't keep it in stock. All of the red Jaspers were selling like crazy, so since this seems to be the next hot thing you should head over like a stanpede of wild horses and grab these while you can!

10 X 14mm Teardrop Imperial Jasper - $27.00
drilled vertically
In rich and creamy fall colors, these Imperial Jasper beads will coincide with the clothing colors that are in style right now. These drops are extremely uniform and the polish is as smooth as silk! On this strand is a variety of greens, mauve, wine, tan, and chocolate cherry

15 X 18mm Moukeite Briolettes - $33.00
16" strand.
6mm thick!
These chunky briolettes will make wonderful focals or you could combine several with other beads for a more weighty design.

Rainbow Brecciated Jasper Assorted Freeform Geometric Slabs- $24.00
24" Strand (graduated)
Deep red, terra cotta, and green with an excellent polish these beads are an absolute steal! The strand is tapered and would make a gorgeous necklace all by itself with just some spacers in between, or you could use it for something more involved.

10 X 30mm faceted tapered oval Lemon Quartz - $8.00
This bead is just gorgeous! The faceting is stellar; a sort of long honeycomb pattern cut.

35 X 35mm Zebra Jasper pendant #1 - $9.00
The colors in this soothing material are tan, salmon, and brown, and it has a nice smooth polish.

Zebra Jasper Pendant #2 - $9.00
Most Zebra Jasper comes in black and white but these in lovely earthtones.
Here's your chance to reserve one of more of these strands or focals. If you see something you want please convo me on Etsy and ask me to list it with your name on it. Later on today I will list these in my etsy supply shop. Don't miss out on these.

Eye Candy Interlude-Sneak Preview!
Design Featured in Step-by Step Beads
Peace and Love, and all that Jazz
$190
18" long (not including 2" leaf pendant)
4-strand necklace including, Carnelian, Faceted Amethyst, green Freshwater Pearls, Aventurine, brass beads, copper beads, seedbeads, artisan-made Raku ceramic leaf pendant, and hand-crafted clasp made with copper wire and chain links.
*
This necklace made the top 10 in the Colorworks Tertiary Colors Challenge sponsored by Interweave Press's Step by Step Beads in which participants were asked to create a piece of jewelry including primarily green, purple, and orange together.
*
It took me several attempts to come up with something I was happy with, and finally I had a design that I felt brought these colors together in a subtle enough way so that they wouldn't clash, while still maintaining enough of an edge to be fresh and exciting.
*
This design reminds me of those "psychadelic" color schemes that were popular during the late 60s and early 70s, and with the revitalization of that era in this years' clothing styles, it seems it's right on time.
*
Be sure to pick up a copy of the November/December issue of Step By Step Beads and take a look at the gallery section for the featured top 10 designs. The magazine issue is on news stands as of October 20th.
*
Here's your chance to own it. Convo me on Etsy and I can reserve it in your name when I list it on Etsy tomorrow (well, technically later today). If you're purchasing it as a gift please let me know in "notes to seller" if you'd like it gift-wrapped. Those of you reading my blog are getting earlybird notice before it shows up in the category pages!

A Bunch of Fruit

Rhodonite Briolette Necklace - $10.00
Necklace made out of a Rhodonite briolette bead with a Rhodonite tumbled nugget.
The drop measures about 1 3/4 inches long, and the chain measures about 16 inches long.
(Be sure to look at the matching earrings in her Etsy store; great for Valentine’s Day)!

Scorpienna is an Engineering student from Rolla, Missouri, who loves parrots and has one for a pet. The look of her jewelry is consistent with this interest in that the colors she chooses are bold, bright, and dramatic. Her style is crisp and bright with a simplicity that is unencumbered, yet never boring, accentuated by a bright white background in most of her pictures.

These below remind me of balloons you would see at a street festival, bursting with fullness and billowing out in all directions. The artist has a number of designs that are reminiscent of balloons, candy, or fruit hanging, and she has more earrings than anything else. Whether this is intentional or whether it just ended up that way I am not sure, but it seems to be working because she has sold 125 items since October 17, 2006. Aptly names, these earrings really do look like hard candy sour balls, now that I think of it.

Candy Cluster Earrings - $18.00
Rainbow, candy-colored cat's eye glass beads with all silver plated findings. They measure a total of 1 1/2 inches long.

Curled like a snake, this necklace has a creamy blend of colors and is beautifully photographed. The length can be changed upon request.

Pink and Gray Swirl Necklace - $24.00
Made of round and rounded diamond/nugget-shaped pink and gray swirl Czech glass beads with black Czech glass spacer beads. The necklace attaches with a silver-plated lobster claw clasp. It measures about 21 1/2 inches long.

For those of you who love contrast and oxidation, these are definitely rich with depth. These large circles are really in right now and the pink really pops against the dark metal. Again we see a reoccurring theme of pink and black (or a very dark gray) for maximum impact, using contrasting dark and light colors.

Oxidized Pink Circle Earrings - $18.00
Earrings measure 1 1/4 inches long from the bottom of the ear wires, with fancy sparkly, spiral-cut, pink Czech glass beads on oxidized sterling silver circles and ear wires.

You will be happy to know that most of Scorpienna’s jewelry can be obtained for under $30.00.
She wants her customers to be satisfied and will do whatever she can so that you will be happy with your purchase.

Why not pick a pair today?

It's All in the Details

Rilo the Fox Fine Silver Necklace - $85.00
Signed and dated on reverse with the Artist's signature and year 07, comes on an 18” chain.
Comes carefully packaged with a certificate of authenticity. Stones include Rose Quartz, freshwater pearl, and Aventurine.

Alternate Bliss Boutique is owned by a mixed media artist who lives in Utah who makes original art including Watercolor Art, ACEO's, Art Prints, and hand made Fine/Sterling Silver Jewelry with gemstone beads. Her work shows intricate detail in all her mediums. Notice the fur carved into the fox, and the numbers on the clock of the rabbit charm, for instance.

I really like the fine silver pieces with animals she makes such as the fox Rilo (shown at top), and the necklace below with a handmade charm of the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. The sculptural bas relief look is quite flattering and gives the piece expression.

White Rabbit Alice in Wonderland Fine Silver Necklace - $130.00

Pendant measures 1 inch in width from edge of heart to edge of clock: 3/4 inch16 inch sterling silver chain (if you would prefer 17, 18, 19 or 20 inch chain at no additional cost; please state in your note to seller).

If you want something really individualized for yourself or to give as a present, she can make you a custom charm necklace with any 3 initials.

You Choose Custom Initial Charm Necklace - $35.00

Includes a 17” sterling silver chain. Charms hang approx. 1 inch (Initial Charm approx 1/2 inch circular in shape).

In addition to these pieces, she also has a lot of Japanese inspired watercolor paintings and ACEOs.

This one below is beautiful, with little bubbles that seem to resist the pink paint.

Andee Harston of Celticgoddessjewelry, a Buddhist pagan of Celtic heritage, lives in Orlando Florida and loves to draw, paint, sculpt, make jewelry, and do photography. She is influenced by spiritual learning, nature and goddess and Celtic imagery.

Andee’s jewelry has a definite spiritual, New Age feeling to it, taking you on an enchanting journey. You will find crystals, pieces made with rough stones, sterling, and pewter spiritual symbol charms, and much more.

My favorite is the piece listed above; Gift from Pandora’s Lover, using rich purple Amethyst beads and a bali style pendant. This substantial necklace would be a beautiful addition to anybody’s jewelry collection.
The Baltic Amber earrings below are also absolutely gorgeous in several different shades of honey, from a translucent warm sunshine yellow, to transparent medium, to a deep cogniac.

Tha Art of Business/The Business of Art

Fire Agate Lariat - $205.00

Phyllis Mufson of Personal Treasures is a jewelry artisan and a creative career and small business coach. She started making jewelry while directing the Locks Career Center at Moore College of Art & Design, an inspiring environment where she worked with wonderfully creative people. Now she works in her sunny living room where she talks with clients and has all of her jewelry equipment close at hand.

Peachy Destash Collection - $3.00

Her style is crisp, lively, and bright, and she chooses her palette from a container she refers to as her 23-story “bead condo” – clear, stacking sectioned boxes filled with organized, color-coordinated beads and findings; a cornucopia of gold, silver, gemstones and pearls.

Glittering Rock Crystal Plus Pearls - $3.00

Earlier in her life she was a textile artist for approximately 15 years, doing surface design and primarily hand-painted silk. She used embroidery techniques, did piece-work of various kinds, and air-brushed textiles. Phyllis had a line of one of a kind, hand painted scarves that she sold nationally, but also did art-to-wear that sold through galleries, custom work for interior and fashion designers and made wall pieces including some large architectural commissions.

“I stopped doing textiles in the 70’s” says Phyllis, “because I wanted to do work that made an impact on people and at the time I didn’t see that connection with the textiles. I started making jewelry as a hobby a few years ago. So it wasn’t really a switch. I hadn’t been doing textiles for a long time. Jewelry is such an expensive hobby that it’s hard to keep doing it without starting to sell. So I started doing that last winter. But once I started, I found I really enjoyed the interaction with women around the jewelry. Most women love jewelry – I certainly do.”

Pink Morganite Necklace - $195.00

This previous background and experience working with cloth influenced her later jewelry designs. Phyllis pays close attention to how the jewelry drapes and moves with the body. She talks with her customers and potential buyers to learn what interests them, and gets an idea of which designs are particularly flattering for them to wear.

Garnet Ripples Necklace - $185.00

In addition to her ETSY stores she sells through private jewelry shows so she gets to observe how women respond to the jewelry.

If you like Personal Treasures but are looking for something more simple or casual, please visit the artist’s Mufi Jewels store at http://mufi.etsy.com/

Gold Biwa Pearl Earrings - $20.00
(available at Mufi Jewels)

Phyllis started on the path to becoming a business coach pretty much from the beginning of her working life through her own exploration into her artistic expression which developed into a natural progression to educating others, writing, leading workshops, and becoming a consultant to other creative people.

She has always been interested in the process of tapping deeper into one’s creativity, and how creative people traverse the market place. At times one area has been the focus, and sometimes another. She co-founded a textile school and gallery, conducted research into creativity to fulfill part of her Masters degree, and taught a creativity class at San Francisco State University.

“For more than 20 years I’ve been consulting with people about finding the venue” says Phyllis, “whether it’s a job or a business that will be their right livelihood."

Several years ago Phyllis officially trained as a business coach, got certified and did additional training in leadership development. Since then she has adopted an increasingly facilitative style, helping people find their own answers.

“I work with all kinds of people but find a lot of creative people attracted to work with me because I’ve lived many of their challenges” says Phyllis. In addition to helping others in the arts to find their voice she is equally able to help people with the technical, logistics side of their careers, using her own expertise as an artist as an asset.

Both drives; the artistic, and the entrepreneurial, are powerful parts of her nature, like two sides of the same coin; the yin and the yang.

Phyllis’s jewelry is currently for sale at the Suzanne Roberts Boutique in Center City, Philadelphia, and another gallery is in the works.

The artist also sells her work at jewelry parties and finds that it does really well in that kind of venue. She set up 5 last year and is planning several more this year. The hostesses are people who admire her work, and they offered to do the parties in their homes without even being asked. She really enjoys doing these and wants to do them more often in the future.

“My biggest sale night so far was at a holiday party for a group of women doctors. They bought for themselves and also gifts for each other. As an extra bonus, one called the next day and stopped by to pick up another 3 pieces.”

Her biggest-ticket items are necklaces in the $150 – 225 range. She has sold them at all of the venues she has mentioned above and also while walking around. “People comment on my jewelry,” says Phyllis, “so I usually carry a bag with a few pieces with me when I go out.”

Translucent Hemimorphite Nuggets - $155.00

To develop her skills further she is interested in learning more advanced wire-wrapping.

In preparation for holiday shoppers she plans to offer multi-strand necklaces, bracelets and sparkly earrings for the Personal Treasures Etsy shop, pendants and some fun stocking stuffers such as beaded hair scrunchies for the Mufi Jewels Etsy shop.

She bought a huge load of gemstones to get ready for the holidays and has several new pieces being made in her workshop, and ideas percolating for many more.

In terms of long-term goals for her business Phyllis is enjoying following her nose. “I’m entertaining a fantasy of taking the jewelry business and the coaching on the road” she says. “You might be surprised and find me in your neighborhood.”

Phyllis is open to selling wholesale. If you are the buyer for a store/gallery interested in carrying her work, or hosting a jewelry party, please contact her.

Luminous Prehnite Earrings - $80.00

Personal Treasures accepts PayPal, credit card, money orders and checks. If you are new to ETSY, or confused by the check-out process, no need to worry. When you click the “Buy Now” button to purchase her piece(s), detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to complete the transaction will automatically come by e-mail.

Phyllis offers shipping internationally.

Dream-weaver

Impressive and intricate are the words that come to mind when looking at the works of jewelry artist and author Linda Chandler. Her style is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian adornment, much of it, museum-quality with its fine detail, high karat gold, sterling and fine silver, with some pieces encrusted with jewels.

Linda has been making jewelry for over 20 years and has studied at Arrowmount, the Midwest Federation, Metalsmithing Society in Illinois, the Gemological Institute (GIA), Indianapolis Art Center, The William Holland School of Lapidary Arts and, has taught and taken classes at (SFMS) Wildacres Retreat in North Carolina.

She has taught classes both locally and nationally in a variety of jewelry-making techniques, including wire-wrapping and weaving, metalsmithing, and glass fusing. Linda is certified as a PMC (Precious Metal Clay) and Art Clay teacher.

She has developed and refined a number of original wire-weaving techniques of which she sells tutorials on her free-standing website, which is also where you can see much of her best work. She also has an online store on Etsy.

Her work appears in several publications, including The Wire Artist Jeweller Magazine, in which she was the featured artist of the month (November, 1999). Her work has also been included in the published book, All Wire Up by Mark Lareau. Linda co-authored books Woven Wire Jewelry and Getting Started Making Jewelry, and created the jewelry used for display and instruction. She also holds a degree in computer graphics.

As we speak, the artist is currently teaching Intermediate to Advanced Metalsmithing at William Holland (in October 2007).

In 2008 Linda will be publishing her third book on wire jewelry through Interweave Press which will include approximately 10 beginning to intermediate projects; bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and a pendant, made with silver and gold-filled wire, some with a variety of findings and semi-precious gemstones.

Linda also belongs to The Art Jewelry Collective.

That’s One-Of-A-Kind- That’s Headley!

A look around Ginny Headley-Maserang’s Etsy store will tell you that each piece she makes is a new beginning. Although the San Antonio, Texas native does have a discernable Southwestern flavor to her designs it is not the clichéd Southwestern style jewelry you see so much of around the web and in stores. Rather than the predominant traditional Turquoise and Coral often used in this style of jewelry, Ginny uses a lot of green, pale blue, and earth toned natural stones, particularly Serpentine, Amazonite, and Aventurine. Some of her pieces also use metal buttons as toggles, and a variety of glass beads, and in addition to the gemstone beads she also likes big, funky beads from Africa.

Most notable are her wire-woven pieces using sterling silver wire to create a bail as in this piece, Nereid Sacred Heart Necklace, which uses Abalone, Mother of Pearl, Aventurine, Seaweed Quartz, and Glass in its multiple strands and sterling silver cones and toggle.
Another very lovely necklace is a cross with interwoven garnet chips and Hill Tribes silver (which is at least 97% pure).

Ginny’s jewelry business is stress relief from her “day job” as a public health consultant in infectious disease and emergency preparedness. If you love to shop online for refreshing new and original jewelry, skip the stress of the mall this holiday season and go to http://thatsheadley.etsy.com/ and don’t forget to see her blog at http://thatsheadley.blogspot.com/

Alilsumptinsumptin In Your Stocking This Season

Blue Rondo La Turk
Double Strand Turquoise and Lampwork Heart Bracelet; includes artisan lampwork heart focal by Janet Crosby, top quality Grade A Blue Chinese Turquoise wheels, and an assortment of all sterling silver components.

Over the past 9 months Eva Espiritu has raised a total $1085.00 through her Paws For A Good Cause campaign with 100% of proceeds of selected pieces donated to the Humane Society of the United States. The artist offers the added benefit of free US shipping to all who purchase these items. While you give a gift to someone you love, you also give a gift to needy and homeless animals with your purchase.

Her jewelry is made from high-quality, kiln annealed lampwork beads created by glass artists Janet Crosby, Kathrin Kneidl-Levi, Julia Lund, Dawn White, Becky Mason, (and Etsy’s own) Marcy Lamberson combined with sterling and Hill Tribes Silver (which is at least 97% pure), and sometimes also genuine gemstones. Her color choices and scale are usually big and bold; showing vitality and decisiveness that like her last name suggests spirit and spunk.

Eva’s designs range from the whimsical and funny, with names such as K-9 Cubed, Give The Dog A Bone, B-B-B-Bad To The Bone, and Bow 2 The Wow Wow, to the more serious cornucopia-like Cha-Cha style charm bracelets bursting with abundance, like the Southern California orange groves of her home. My personal favorites are the bracelets bursting with beads. Her layering of color and texture, often incorporating lampwork from several different artists in the same piece, creates exquisite and visually fulfilling designs. These are pieces you could look at for hours, and like a Where is Waldo picture, see something new among the numerous dangles every time.
